For more than 20 years, Robert Van Arlen has inspired companies and teams through keynote speeches. These speeches cover topics of employee engagement, personal and team excellence, all with an engaging musical touch.
Early on, Robert learned to read and write music. Today, he welcomes the chance to perform for special events planned or in the spur of the moment. Growing up, his grandmother, Salvina was a great influence and supported his love for music.
A history filled with engagement
He brought his style of leadership to CCH, a global legal publisher of tax law and business information. From there, he ignited his teams with a high level of engagement. With Robert, you end up with a completely new method to acquire customers.
His first role as a leader resulted in 17 individuals outperforming hundreds of others. How did he do this? When a new product was released in the early nineties, Robert and his colleague came up with the idea to create a party atmosphere for showcasing new technology. Instead of one-on-one selling, he rented a hotel room, put up a stage with lighting, and rocked it out with music from the 90s.
His team invited 300 customers, and he thought there would be a drop-off of at least 50 percent, so he arranged for seating for 100. On event day, 200 showed up at the door. He quickly decided to host a second event that afternoon. Word spread quickly throughout the industry that Robert’s level of engagement and interaction within a conservative profession worked. It also produced immediate adoption of the new technology. The results spoke for themselves as he traveled throughout North America training others to do the same.
Today, Robert fuses music with the message that Every Note Matters in sales, services, and leadership.
